nigel inglis again
The last memory I have of my dad is when I saw him lying in the casket that he was going to be in for the rest...
Barry Baines

I met Nigel in Luanda in 2003, and we hooked up a couple of times when he was down in Cape Town for some R&R.

I remember weekly braais (BBQ) at his Chikala house, often lasting long into the early hours of the next morning. These were opportunities to meet many interesting people from a variety of nationalities and cultures, forget work for a few hours, and generally let our hair down and lose our inhibitions. Nigel was a great host, always cooking up a storm, and ensuring all were comfortable and at ease.

Christmas eve 2004. What a fun time. Karaoke, dancing and good food.

Then there was the famous table tennis tournament (BP vs. Halliburton), which was a tight affair, eventually won by BP. Nigel plays a mean game of table tennis, and lead his team by example, with inspirational play and "never-say-die" attitude.

A generous friend with a big heart.

I'll miss you Nigel.

cheers .......... Barry

Times I had with Nigel alone are uncountable and are certainly memorable. I recall when Nigel would pick me up to just go and be with him at the printing press in Satellite Town in Rawalpindi when he worked for a gentleman named Kazmi, it was his Honda CD 175 I just loved to ride on with him because he really knew how to make it move.

To add further more I recall travelling with Nigel to Sialkot when he took me along to purchase his Mark 1 Toyota car No: RIH 53, we had to search the Sialkot city for this car with Attique (the person Nigel bought the car from) and in the end we found the car and brought it back, had great times driving around with Nigel in that too. He would also faithfully take me every Thursday to pick Uncle Ronnie (MHSRIP) up from Tarbella where Uncle worked and those were the rides and times I really used to look forward to.

I guess I have to stop writing now cause I could just go on and on there's just so much to recall but, Nigel I don't say you have left us because you are still alive in our hearts and I don't want to convince myself about this and will say you knew how to live life and to the fullest and also knew how to keep people alive. God bless you and your family and will end by saying "SEE YOU LATER" in good time again.

I remember calling Nigel a couple of months back for some work. I was feeling a little awkward, coz I didn't have much contact with him in a long, long time! But that conversation between us, I must say was the best and only long conversation we ever had, as far I remember. He asked about each and everyone back here in Pakistan, and I just gave him the whole run down, each and every detail, We had a long typical good old Anglo gossip session...lol!
